The slot type for a stiffener penetrating a primary supporting member (PSM).
| Value | Description |
|---|---|
| Direct | A slot opening of Direct type is where the stiffener has one directly welded connection to the penetrating plate on on either side of the web. An additional lug plate may also be fitted to the stiffener on the opposite side. |
| Open | A slot opening of Open type is where the stiffener has no directly welded connection to the penetrating plate on on either side of the web. The connection to the PSM must be ensured by fitting lug plate(s). |
| Slit | A slot opening of Slit type is where the stiffener is directly welded to the penetrating plate on both sides of the web. No lug plates shall be fitted. |
